The Howling Event Rules and Expectations

  • All Howling events are for legal adults only (18+).

  • The Howling monthly Traveling Munch and occasional potluck events (Like PetsGiving) are 18+.

  • Our monthly Pet Nights and Camp Paws are 21+ only due to requirements of the venue and space. Attendees of these Events will be expected to have a legal ID to enter the venue and space.

  • Most bar spaces will be 21+ only, which require having an ID to scan/check.

  • No fake IDs or letting in people who are under 21. Not only is this breaking the rules and trust, but there are legal consequences if caught by law enforcement.

  •  No discrimination.

  • Be respectful to all members, event crew, venue staff, and guests.

  • We do not tolerate discrimination based on characteristics such as: race, ethnicity, sex, gender, orientation, religion, identity, dress, style, idiolect, cognitive ability, or otherwise.

  •  If you would not want to be discriminated against based on it, do not do it to others. We also do not tolerate ideologies being used to discriminate against others.

  • Ask for consent!

  • Even if we are a kinky group, this does not mean one can just touch anyone anywhere.

  • Make sure to have clear direction and remember that an intoxicated “yes” is not sober consent.

  • Any inappropriate touching, sexual or otherwise, such as touching the ears or shoulders without consent, is not allowed. Not everyone likes casual touch.

  • Any inappropriate gestures or communications, such as whispering dirty things into someone’s ear without consent, is not allowed.

  • Keep an eye out for consent wristbands. These will be available at a Howling table (check in or merch depending on event). These are visual markings of someone’s consent status to those around them.

  • Meanings of what the wristband colors mean will be available at pick up.

  • Harassing someone to change their mind is not freely given consent. No one should feel pressured to change their mind.

    • Everyone is entitled to change their mind if they do not feel comfortable. Please respect the boundary.

  • Anyone that continues to nonconsensually touch after being told to stop, will be asked to leave if needed.

  • If it is not acceptable at the venue on a regular night, DON'T DO IT

  • Some of these events are only possible with permission to be hosted at a public venue.

  •  This means all rules enforced in that space and public laws are implemented for our guests.

  • Please do not break public decency rules as this is not only a problem with the venue but it can shut down a venue too.

    • Any rules a bar space or venue has while a Howling event is being held, will be expected to be followed by Howling attendees.

  • Know your limits with alcohol (21+ events)

  • Whenever we host events at a space that sells alcohol, please drink responsibly.

  • If you plan to get intoxicated, make sure you have a way home. This can be from a friend, a group, an Uber, a Lyft, or otherwise.

    • No driving under the influence. We want you to arrive at your destination safely!

  • Being intoxicated is no excuse for bad behavior. All rules here are not exempt due to you drinking too much. The rules apply as if you were sober.

  • We are not responsible for any consequences due to being intoxicated.

  •  Have fun but have fun safely. Drink responsibly.

  • Crew Members authority.

  • While we do our best to outline our rules clearly and specifically, those that run and manage The Howling reserve the right to keep ourselves and others safe.

  • If someone is deemed to be threatening, violent, obscene, dangerous, or anything else deemed unfit for the safety of others synonymous by two or more Crew Members, The Howling reserves the right to ban that individual from future events.

  • We do our best to approach situations without any bias. Everyone deserves the opportunity to be heard.

    • Resources relating to some situations may be offered to better equip anyone that needs it.

  • We are not the legal authority and we do not handle anything that might need legal involvement.

  • We strive to keep our community safe. Those who repeatedly disrespect other’s boundaries and those who disrespect the rules set for Howling events/group chats can face being banned or kicked out from events/ and or virtual spaces.

  • This Is Not the Place for Drama

  •  The Howling and The Howling Crew are not responsible for drama you may have with one or more members of the community.

  • Talk to one another to communicate concerns. Do not approach Crew Members for personal drama management.

  • Concerns may be brought up, but we are not here to settle your drama or choose sides.

  • Illegal Substances and Illegal Alcohol use.

  •  At Howling Events we do not condone the usage of illegal substances and drinking of alcohol in inappropriate places (like city parks or venues without drinking permits).

  • We are not responsible for your actions if they lead to legal consequences.

  • The Howling reserves the right to remove and/or ban individuals from Howling events who choose to use illegal substances where the event is being held.

  • This is also to protect the venue from legal problems if an individual is caught using an illegal substance in the venue.

  • If someone is under the influence of an illegal drug, they cannot truly give sober consent. The individual is put at risk of being vulnerable where others are not aware of their situation.

  • Not all locations are gear friendly.

  • Most Munch locations will be held in public spaces and might not be appropriate spaces for kink gear.

  • You could bring light gear (like a hood) in a bag or in your car to store if we are at a location that is ok with pet play gear.

  • For a Howling event to be considered official, at least one crew member must be present.

  • This does not include volunteers for an event.

  • Respect the Venue Space We Are Hosting at.

  • At any time during howling events, participants are asked to leave the property by hosting venue staff - overall Howling staff have NO authority, influence, involvement or choice towards the venue staff and property management's decisions towards said participants.

  • If you break the rules, Howling Crew have the right to suspend/ban you from the group

  • Warnings will be given to those that break a rule and after three times there will be a consequence of suspension or banning depending on the situation.

    • Warnings, suspensions, and bans can only be administered by the President, Vice President, and Yonions Coordinator.

By attending any Howling Event, WE (The Howling Crew and any Volunteers) are NOT responsible for YOU (the individual), in the event of any personal problems, such as logistics, injury, or anything else that may arise during group functions. It is up to the individual to be self-sufficient on all accounts outside of what is specifically designated by the group for its members.
